Eight Brazilian municipalities will elect new mayors, in supplementary elections, on October 30, the same day of the second round of elections for president and governors. There are three cities in Rio Grande do Sul, two in Pernambuco, one in Santa Catarina, one in São Paulo and one in Rondônia.
The municipalities with a supplementary election for mayor are Cachoeirinha (RS), Cerro Grande (RS), Entre Rios do Sul (RS), Joaquim Nabuco (PE), Pesqueira (PE), Pinhalzinho (SP), Vilhena (RO) and Canoinhas ( SC).
In all of them, voters will vote for governor, president, and mayor, in that order.
Supplementary elections were called in these municipalities because the mayors elected in 2020 had their mandate or registration revoked by the Electoral Justice. Those elected on October 30th will be in charge of the prefectures until December 31st, 2024.
As happened in the first round of the general elections, in the second round the voting time will be unified, which means that voting will take place from 8 am to 5 pm Brasília time in all municipalities in the country.
Even voters who did not vote in the first round will be able to go to the polls on October 30 and register their votes.
