Editrudis Beltrán receives majority support in the Faculty of Arts of the UASD

The candidate for the rectory of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Editrudis Beltrán, received the support of Professor Juan Tiburcio Vargas, former candidate for the rectory of the high house of higher education in the past elections, and leader of the movement New Institutional Route.

“In this act today, common aspirations converge for the UASD and this coincidence of values ​​with the New Institutional Route movement and its way of thinking about the arts is an affinity that pleases me pleasantly,” said Beltrán during an emotional meeting held in the presence of dozens of academics and employees of the state university, who attended the esplanade of the Faculty of Arts.

In that sense, he stated that it is an honor to share with all the teachers who are part of the group represented by the teacher Juan Tiburcio Vargas, former Dean of the Faculty of Art, and who also directed the School of Advertising on two occasions.

“Most here know that the Faculty of Arts integrates that artistic knowledge that enables the full development of physical, intellectual and spiritual capacities in a human being,” said Beltrán, who is emerging as the main candidate to preside over the UASD.

He pointed out that there is ample evidence that interaction with the arts facilitates the integral formation of human beings through the promotion of the creative and critical personality, aware of its universal condition.

“We have traveled the four cardinal points to listen to teachers like you and we have welcomed the ideas and proposals of the nine faculties and Arts is no exception and that is why in each visit we have promoted the idea that the UASD must be transformed in a more competitive and modern academy”, assured the former Administrative Vice Chancellor.

On his side Tiburcio Vargas, who remained in the expectation of participating as a candidate for the rectory for the elections on July 15 of this year 2022, declined his aspirations and together with his work team, promised to work so that Editrudis Beltrán achieves her goal of reaching the rectory of the “Primate of America” ​​for the period 2022-2026, and can incorporate the transformations that the UASD needs, through a university academic unit management.

“With Editrudis Beltrán we will manage the academic transformations that guarantee the formation of an upright and creative human being with a solid education in values ​​that acts as a transforming agent that promotes the ideals of a culture of peace in society in order to ensure the protection of life and the planet”, indicated Tiburcio Vargas.

Instead, Beltrán promised to enrich his university government program with the sustainable proposals assumed by New Institutional Route, in order to improve teaching processes and increase the educational and human quality of the high house of studies.

In this sense, he considered it convenient to incorporate a new strategy from the point of view of the arts.

“I am highly convinced of the importance of inserting new academic approaches from the perspective of the arts, in the teaching-learning process,” said Beltrán to the applause of the participants.

Finally, Beltrán presented the ten axes that will represent his management, which were numbered in the following order:

Quality and relevance 2. Teaching 3. Institutional development 4. Research promotion 5. Information and communication technologies 6. Internationalization 7. Management of financing and internal resources 8. Sustainable development of campuses, centers. Sub-centers 9. Linkage and strategic alliances 10. Quality of life of university servers: teachers and administrators.

Teachers Rosalía Sosa, candidate for Extension Vice-Chancellor, Ramón Desangles, candidate for Administrative Vice-Chancellor, Wilson Mejía, who seeks to become Teaching Vice-Chancellor, and Radhames Silverio, candidate for Research and Postgraduate Vice-Chancellor, were present during the event. of your project.

Editrudis Beltrán and the Triumph candidates have received the majority support of the main student movements of the UASD, among them the Dominican Student Vanguard (VED) and the Democratic Socialist Student Front (FESD-16). In addition, Beltrán has the support of the Democratic Student Movement (MED-23) and the Independent Student Group (GEI), among others.
