The Ecuadorian Army announced the increase in the force foot in the border area with Colombia to prevent the passage to that country of the FARC dissidents that commit crimes in the department of Putumayo.
The commander of that institution, General Luis Enrique Burbano, pointed out that the acts of disturbance of public order in that area of Colombia, have an incidental effectl in the border provinces of Ecuador, especially Sucumbíos.

“We share the same concern as the Colombian authorities about the presence of illegal groups in the border areas of both countries that are affecting public order,” the officer said.
He added that the units of the Ecuadorian Army on the northern border were ordered to redouble efforts to prevent the violent acts of the group calling itself Border Commands from affecting the security of citizens living in border towns.

For General Burbano, before the difficult circumstances that the Colombian Army has had, due to the events that occurred in Putumayowhere 11 alleged FARC dissidents died, the efforts of the Colombian authorities to fight these illegal groups together should be supported.
The UN questioneda military operation in the Vereda Alto Remanso in Puerto Leguízamo, Putumayofor which he requested that “an exhaustive investigation” be carried out on this Army operation.
“Prevention, protection and reparation measures must be adopted for the community, including protecting the life and integrity of witnesses,” said the international organization.
Finally the United Nations did un call for the protection of investigative journalists who are under attack for their publications on this operation.
