Economist Espinal believes tax reform is inevitable

The Economist Raphael Espinal considered yesterday that sooner or later the country will have to carry out a fiscal reform not only to improve incomebut to make a more friendly tax system.

He expressed that the country cannot eternally be covering a fiscal deficit.

As long as the government’s collection capacity is being improved, the fiscal reform can be postponed, he stated.

The gross domestic product (GDP) growthhe said, the GDP/debt ratio has decreased, and the country’s risk rating has even improved.

He maintained that he still public debt is manageable, but it is necessary to increase income for the coming years. He explained that the relationship between debt service and tax revenues worsens.
