The recovery of employment amounted to 571,000 new jobs in the first quarter of the year, which represented an increase of 18% compared to what was registered in the same period of 2021, thanks to the better performance of the micro and small businesses (mype), reported today the Ministry of Production (Produces).
In addition, the first quarter of this year left encouraging figures for mypes, according to the results of the Permanent Employment Survey 2022.
In January, February and March, the level of employment in Metropolitan Lima would have risen to 3,616,000 workers, a figure higher than the 3,45,000 workers in the first quarter of 2021.
Better performance
This recovery was possible thanks to the positive results and good performance in the clothing industry (growth of 6%), printing (5.3%), metalworking (6.8%) and bakery (10.2%), during the months of January , February and March 2022, Produce explained.
In 2021, the mypes of the manufacturing sector recovered their production levels, such is the case of sectors such as furniture (34%), bakery (16.7%), metalworking (55%), clothing (22.3%) and plastic products (18.9%).
The Mype Week 2022 “Always produce with Mypes” will be held in the country, in recognition of Peruvian entrepreneurs who are an important part of the engine of the economy, seeking to boost their recovery and growth after difficult years due to the COVID pandemic -19.
Produce, in coordination with regional and municipal governments, will develop activities, workshops and training in Ayacucho, Arequipa, Ancash, Cusco, Huánuco, Junín, Moquegua, La Libertad, Piura, Tacna, Vraem and Ucayali.
