SANTIAGO.-The Águilas Cibaeñas announced the hiring of American catcher Brett
Sullivan, from the San Diego Padres organization, who has played the last two
seasons in the Dominican Baseball League (LIDOM).
When giving the information, the operations manager of the eaglets, Ángel Ovalles, revealed that
to make room for the new mask, outfielder Cade Gotta, who played with
the team since the beginning of the season.
“Sullivan is a catcher with an offensive and defensive profile, we like his ability to connect
extra-base hits and getting runners on the bases,” explained Ovalles.
Sullivan is on the San Diego Padres’ roster of 40 and was previously in LIDOM with
the Leones del Escogido in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons.
The first year he saw action in 11 regular series games closing with a .243 batting average, he recorded
bar stats of .317/.405/.723; and last season, in 14 games he hit . 273 and
his offensive line finished at .360/.364/.724.
This year with El Paso, in the triple A Pacific Coast League, Sullivan played 113 games, sold out
475 shifts, scored 73 runs, had 120 hits, 28 of them doubles, 6 triples, 9 home runs, drove in
81 runs, he drew 38 walks and was struck out 58 times. His average closed at .285, and his
special stats at .339/.444/.783.
Brett Charles Sullivan is 28 years old, a native of Stockton, California, hits left, throws to
the right, is 6′ 1” and weighs 195 lbs. He was selected by Tampa Bay in the 17th round of the draft.
