Duque announces salary increase in the Police, the highest in 29 years

President Iván Duque announced this Wednesday that he will make an adjustment in the salary increase of the country’s police officers, which is the highest in 29 years.

“We have great news: the decrees were signed so that the Executive Level of the Police has an increase in its income, which recognizes this great service to the country. Rigorous increases are made every year, but an increase of this nature has not been seen since 1993”, said the Colombian president through a video on social networks accompanied by the leadership of the institution.

That’s the way it is, The salary increase will be for the commissioners, deputy commissioners, chief quartermasters, quartermasters, deputy quartermasters and, of course, the patrolmen.

The increase will begin today, when the decree was signed, although the percentage was not specified.

“This important decision and this special bonus that you will receive, also, at the Executive Level, is because you have earned it thanks to the sacrifice and service to Colombia”said the president, who was accompanied in the announcement by the director of the National Police, General Jorge Luis Vargas.

BONUSES AND INCENTIVES

To access these incentives, in the case of patrollers, the study and performance of “excellence in their daily work with citizens” will be taken into account.

“These decrees represent a family assistance bonus and distinctions of up to 35 percent of their salary for their good performance, for acting professionally and for the length of service”Defense Minister Diego Molano explained.
