The drivers of La Paz reject the controls of the vaccination card against Covid-19 in public transport, affirmed the executive of the Federation of Drivers First of May, Edson Valdez.

Said refusal arises after the La Paz Mayor’s Office established that drivers must show their vaccination card and that the Municipal Guard controls the document for passengers.

“It is not convenient for the Guard to demand a (vaccination) card, because they know the type of transport we have. A vehicle stops anywhere. So, this is going to generate a very large social conflict. We do not agree with the control” Valdez told the Erbol network.

The leader assured that for drivers it is “impossible” to control user cards.

Regarding the requirement to display the document in vehicles, the leader recalled that vaccination is not mandatory and that the municipal authority must respect the national standard.

In this context, he also stated that drivers will continue to implement biosecurity measures.

The departmental leader also indicated that his sector is willing to meet with Mayor Iván Arias to discuss issues such as PumaKatari municipal transportation.

“If he wants a war with transportation, he will have it, because in the end he is an abusive mayor. We have asked him to meet several times and he has not agreed,” he warned.

However, there is evidence of a lack of control of biosecurity measures in the public transport service, which works with full capacity.

In this context, Mayor Arias ratified the validity of the provision through a statement in which he establishes that access to municipal offices and services is with a vaccination card.
