So far this year, the Dominican authorities have seized about 10 tons of cocaine, while last year 19 tons of this drug were confiscated, according to data from the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD).

In the first quarter of 2022, cocaine seizures amounted to 5.9 tons, according to consolidated figures from the DNCD, while so far in April, more than 4 tons have been intercepted.

Most of the operations correspond to the capture of speedboats when they tried to reach the Dominican coast, as well as search operations in containers of merchant ships, generally bound for Europe.
