Last Sunday, January 30, the residents of the township of San Fransico Centro began a campaign called “#DestapaLaAcera” and “#LiberaLaAcera”, on Calle 74.
This action occurs, since the residents consider that the authorities such as the Municipality of Panama, the Community Board of San Francisco and the Land Traffic and Transportation Authority (ATTT), are not doing their job.
Facundo Clua, a spokesman for the residents, explained that the friends of San Francisco wanted to do something to recover the sidewalks and make citizens aware of their use.
They are aware that they are not the authority to sanction or penalize anyone, or delimit the road easement, “but we can do the work of signaling and raising awareness.”
He said that one of the rights is to participate and to have free sidewalks to be able to travel.
For several months, the residents of Downtown San Francisco have denounced the excess of noise in the area as a result of the music and artistic presentations inside some shops, in addition, there are businesses that are profiting from public space, putting the life of the public at risk. pedestrian.
