Dominican National Brewery will use renewable energy

The Dominican National Brewery signed an agreement with Akuo Energy Dominicana and with the participation of GAM Capital, for the construction of a solar energy park, which will supply renewable energy for your operations.

This park, which will be built in Nagua, will have a capacity of 53 MW and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 50,000 tons per year. At the same time, 550 direct jobs and more than 2,000 indirect jobs will be generated.

Through this agreement, the Dominican National Brewery promised to buy the energy that the solar park will produce, and will guarantee the viability of the project.

Fabián Suárez, president of the brewery, assured: “On Brewery sustainability is integral to business development. We believe that a better future is created in the present by promoting local and sustainable initiatives that translate into a long-term positive impact for the community.”

On his side, Salvatore Longo, Country Manager of Akuo Energy, stated that with this initiative the quality of the service will be raised and there will be an important turn towards sustainability, with the production of clean energy and the reduction of the environmental impact.

The agreement was signed by Brewery and Akuo Energy in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, Alfonso Rodríguez.

This is the third project developed by the Akuo company, a French independent producer of renewable energyin the Dominican Republic and the first carried out since the moment of its conceptualization with a Dominican company from the private sector.

Park financing

The solar park that will provide energy to the brewery will be built with the support of Banco Popular. By 2025, Cervecería Nacional Dominicana assumed the responsibility of transforming its energy matrix to use 100% renewable energy in its operations, and also supports what is established in Law 5707 on incentives for the development of renewable sources.
