District of Chepo receives benefits that exceed $4 million

A total of 109 stallions to small products, and orders to proceed for the construction of a vehicular bridge and 4 modular bridges in four communities of Chepo were delivered during the Community Work Tour carried out by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen.

These benefits reach a total amount of B/. 4,911,697.56.

“There is no greater satisfaction for a public servant than working for the common good,” he said during the delivery of stallions at the Soli Project farm, in Coquira. Cortizo Cohen pointed out that “they have an ally president in me, a land has been donated to build a Comprehensive Early Childhood Center (CAIPI) and it is benefiting small producers, many of whom are women.” In his speech, the president recounted the benefits delivered through 17 institutions and reaffirmed his commitment to the most vulnerable Panamanians in the country.

The head of the Executive, together with the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, delivered 109 beef and milk stallions to small producers in the Chepo district. The Brahman, Zardo, Holstein, Girolando, Pardo, Guzerat, Brangus and Beefmaster bulls were awarded to ranchers from the communities of La Mesa, Unión Santeña, Tortí, Chepo and Cañitas, to improve the breeding stock of their herds. This is one of the largest deliveries of bulls that the “A better stallion” program of the Ministry of Social Development (MIDA) has carried out. In addition, together with the Minister of Public Works Rafael Sabonge, President Cortizo Cohen delivered the order to proceed to build the vehicular bridge over the Bayano River, port of Coquira, with an investment of B/. 23,936,079.53, benefiting more than 64 thousand inhabitants of Chepo. The work has a length of 1,477 kilometers of access roads from the port of Coquira in the town of Chepo, in flexible and rigid pavement; and additionally 500 linear meters of vehicular bridge (beam pipeline and successive voussoir bridge) to the intersection of the existing road to El Tigre Abajo. Also, the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) gave the order to proceed to build 4 modular bridges for progress in the communities of Las Margaritas, Chepo Cabecera and Unión Santeña de Chimán (2), with a total investment of B/. 3,123,337.63. More than 52 thousand inhabitants of Chepo and Chimán will benefit from these four modular bridges, which will be built over the Charare, Corotú, Unicito and Trapiche rivers. These new vehicular bridges with a pedestrian walkway and sets of concrete abutments will provide a safe passage for the population and will facilitate access to basic education, health and housing services.

While the Ministry of Health (MINSA) delivered the order to proceed for the construction and equipping of the Ipetí Emberá Health Center, located in the district of Tortí, Chepo, for a total amount of B/. 3,089,359.15. This health facility will offer emergency services, outpatient consultation, laboratory, pharmacy, environmental sanitation and vectors, benefiting 3,500 inhabitants.

The Ministry of Social Development (Mides) through the head of the entity María Inés Castillo, delivered the resolution that allows the use of the land for the construction of the first Comprehensive Early Childhood Center (CAIPI) in the district of Chepo , with an estimated investment of B/. 580,000.00. This center will provide coverage to a population of 40 girls and boys; It will have two classrooms (one for type A nursery school and the other for type B nursery school), a multipurpose room, an administration area, a nurse’s office, a teacher’s room and stimulators, promoting care and positive interactions and safe environments for children under four years of age. In total, benefits were delivered for a total amount of B/. 4,911,697.56. The Institute for Training and Development of Human Resources (Ifarhu) awarded scholarships, laptops and tablets to 15 students; the National Land Administration Authority (Anati) granted 50 property titles; the Ministry of Housing and Land Management (Miviot) delivered six housing solutions; and the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel) managed 6 contract signatures through the Direct Labor Insertion program. President Cortizo Cohen was accompanied on tour 115 in circuit 8-4 by ministers María Inés Castillo (Social Development), Giselle González (Culture), Ivette Berrio (Health in charge), Daniela Martínez (MIVIOT in charge) Augusto Valderrama (Agricultural Development ) and Rafael Sabonge (Public Works).
