From the Parliament they began the national deployment plan for the promotion, dissemination and defense of the Organic Law for the Care and Comprehensive Development of Older Adults.
Ida León, deputy of the National Assembly (AN), informed that they will take the content of the norm to the population by telematic means and talks.
In addition, he announced the installation of a situational room in the subcommission for the Comprehensive Care of Adults and Older Adults, which he chairs and is attached to the Commission of Families, Freedom of Religion and Worship of the AN.
The struggles for the demands and respect for the elderly, promoted by the deceased constitutionalist Haydee Machín, were present during the intervention of the deputy María León, who proposed that the campaign for the promotion of the law bear the name of Machín.
For his part, the Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruíz, recommended extending protection to grandparents, such as guaranteeing them the enjoyment of the benefits of preferential passage, recreation and tenure for those who care for relatives affected by health.
Rafael Argotti, from the Movement of Older Adults, stressed that the law goes beyond the traditional issue, since “issues that had to do with respect, knowledge, the need to deepen and transmit that knowledge were touched upon.”
The people present in the protocol chamber gave their opinion. Jorge Angulo (71 years old) said: “what we need is for those laws that protect us to be enforced.”
Marlene Tovar (64 years old) limited: “we go to the deployment in our communities to look for these older adults and teach them the law.”
It is expected that the dissemination sessions will end in October.
