The absence of the frontTo Charlyn Corralleader of the scorers of the Clausura 2025 tournament, is the most striking of the call for the women’s team of Mexico that will face Jamaica in a couple of friendlies on Saturday 5 and Tuesday 8 of this month. The Spanish coach Pedro López announced 21 players of the local league and two involved in the football of the United States, almost all with good performance with his team and surprised to exclude Corral, who at 33 goes through a moment of excellent sports.
In 15 days of the Clausura Corral, of the Tuzas de Pachuca, who was a scoring leader of the last Opening Tournament, adds 20 scores, a figure with which he heads to the artillery of the tournament with eight goals of advantage over his closest persecutors. The numbers show that performance is not the cause of the absence of the winner of the ‘Pichichi’ award in Spain in 2018.
Three years ago the previous coach of Mexico, Mónica Vergara, vetoed Corral from the national team. Without it, Mexico was in the last place of its group in the Premundial of Concacaf, with losses against the United States, Jamaica and Haiti. The Mexicans were out of the Australia-Nueva Zealand World Cup and the Olympic Games of Paris 2024, a consequence of their void attack, which without Charlyn did not score goals and received five, three of them before the humble Haiti. Jamaica, who then defeated the Mexicans 1-0, will be the rival next Saturday, in Kansas City, and on Tuesday 8, in Houston, in a couple of friendly matches.
