Diplomatic relations of cooperation between Venezuela and Colombia advance

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, concluded the extraordinary bilateral meeting with his counterpart from the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro.

Likewise, these meetings summon governments to the diversity of thoughts to work for the shared well-being and the promotion of commercial and economic alliances, an area that is also linked to peace and border security.

The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, arrived accompanied by the Colombian Foreign Minister, Álvaro Leyva, and other officials, who were received by the Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, and by his diplomat Armando Benedetti, at the Simón Bolívar International Airport of Maiquetía.

In the first meeting between the two presidents of Venezuela and Colombia, President Gustavo Petro pointed out that “it is unnatural that both nations were separated for so long, since we are the same people, where we are united by historical, blood and genetic ties.”

The will to resume the friendship ties between both countries, are reaffirmed today, which were interrupted in 2019.

In turn, the telephone conversation held between the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and his counterpart Gustavo Petro, that June 22 when the willingness to move towards peace and until the near future of both nations was reaffirmed.
