The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted this Wednesday the strategic vision of the leaders of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro; and Bolivarian, Hugo Chávez; for the creation of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP).
“There is no doubt that Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and Commander Hugo Chávez were visiting the future when they agreed to create ALBA. Fidel and Chávez united us in ALBA in a true alliance of solidarity”, expressed Díaz Canel, during his speech at the forum, which is being held at the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba.
The Cuban president pointed out that ALBA was the block that showed evidence of integration quickly, for the benefit of the peoples of the continent.
Proof of this – he explained – are the Miracle Mission and the program I can, that contributed to the recovery of vision and literacy of millions of people in the region.
“The alliance can not only prove its necessity, but also its value in the integration and cooperation mechanism, its projects for the benefit of the people (…) I have always recognized that ALBA was the regional integration bloc that showed the fastest results for our peoples. “, he pointed.
In this regard, he indicated that – at this time – the region faces new challenges that require the unity of all member countries of the bloc.
“Latin America and the Caribbean faces a new crossroads in its destiny that cannot be faced without unity,” he pointed out.
Similarly, he made reference to the need to promote new projects aimed at social development and integration.
“While in the region the paths of integration are resumed, in the United States they intend to return to the Monroe Doctrine, to impose themselves on our destinies, that makes integration more necessary,” he added.
On the other hand, he stressed that imperialism continues to intensify the harassment against figures of the left, for which he emphasized his rejection of the judicial war against the vice president of Argentina, Cristina Fernández.
