In a proclamation that was written jointly by all the young cooperative members, several things were asked of the president, such as improvements in access to credit, ease of access to land, and public policies to access housing, in order to favor the permanence of these young people in rural areas.

Young members of different cooperatives in the country accompanied their two referents in reading the document.

Rural youth occupies a fundamental place in the present and in the future of the development of the agricultural sector,” the proclamation highlighted.

The President of the Republic highlighted the presence of government authorities on CAF’s board of directors.

The young people, all representatives of different sectors such as livestock, dairy, agricultural, horticultural and poultry, among others, they asked Lacalle Pou to promote youth entrepreneurship, that facilitates access to education and improves its qualityand also take into account that to promote the use of digital media it is necessary to consider the quality of connectivity in rural areas.

“Rural youth need tools and support to lead the development of our environment and we still have a lot of work ahead of us,” they indicated in the proclamation that was delivered to the president after reading it.

The access to quality health services, to recreational spaces and the active participation of young people in decision-making They were also prominent points in the speech, in which, in addition, the generational change –the concern of many adult rural producers– was not unrelated. “It is important to be able to rescue the experience of young people who show interest in staying in the field,” they commented.

The President of the Republic listened to the proclamation, which he received with a “thank you gurises”, before taking several selfies with the young people.

To close the board of directors of CAF, which brought together about 350 people at Club Esparta in Colonia Valdense, he responded to them. “Many of the things they raise are not directly linked to production, tax or competitiveness. They talk about rurality and this is a government that understands rurality and production”, said the president.

He highlighted the presence of government authorities at the meeting of the cooperatives and he maintained that this speaks of “a committed government, which has its feet in the mud.”

Finally, he told them that the authorities are willing to “listen, learn and promote many things that are for the good of the cooperatives and the country.”
