Dajabón, RD.- Despite the conflicts in Haiti Due to the demonstrations of its citizens in the face of the crisis due to the high cost of fuel, food and other problems, this Saturday the border area between Dajabón and Juana Méndez remains calm.
The flow of vehicles and people through the border crossing that connects the two countries continues normally without any incident being recorded so far, however, the area remains heavily guarded by military authorities on both sides of the border.
In addition to the border bridge between Dajabón and Juana Méndez, there is also extensive patrolling throughout the border strip by members of the Dominican Armywho maintain a security device deployed by air and land, with the aim of preventing any eventuality that may arise.
Last Friday the border was also cordoned off by this city, under the command of Brigadier General Rosario Pérez, with a Cavalry helicopter, a small plane and all-terrain and motorized patrols, where although the situation was calm, on the other side there was a high stress climate.
On the other side of the river, dozens of Haitians could be seen trying to cross into Dominican territory, fleeing from the situation that is recorded there after the assaults, police deaths, looting and instability created by the gangs that operate in the big cities.
