The National Election Jury (JNE) held the public draw for the speaking order of the candidates for Mayor of Lima in the debate it organizes for Sunday, September 25, at 8:00 pm, in the “Ella Dunbar Temple” auditorium of the National University Mayor of San Marcos (UNMSM).
During the activity it was reported that the debate will consist of four blocks. The moderators will be the journalists Josefina Townsend and Carlos Cornejoand the transmission will be in charge of TV Peru.
The draw was held at the JNE headquarters in Jesús María, as agreed in previous coordination meetings between the electoral body and the representatives of the participating political organizations.
What will the debate consist of?
The first block contains citizenship and moderation questions. It consists in that a citizen will be able to ask a question and the candidate will have one minute. Then the moderator will ask another follow-up question or complement to it. The applicant will have the same time to respond.
For him second block “Questions and answers between candidates” Four pairs will be formed. Each candidate will have a total of 3 minutes to ask, comment and respond to the other.
In the third block “With a yes or no” Each applicant will answer two questions. The representatives of the civil society organizations will ask the questions and the candidates will have 45 seconds for each one to indicate their answer “Yes, no, Yes/No” and justify it.
In the final block, called “Vision of the city and final message”each candidate will have 1 minute and 30 seconds to give their vision of the city and their message to the voters.
It should be noted that the issues that will be addressed in the society debate will be framed in four dimensions: social-economic, territorial, environmental and institutional.
After the draw made, for the first block Maria Elena Soto Velasquezcandidate for councilor for Avanza País and the only one left in the race after the exclusion of her candidate for Mayor of Lima, Luis Molina, will start the debate.
Then they will follow George Forsyth (We are Peru), Elizabeth Leon (Front of Hope 2021), Omar Chehad (Alliance for Progress), Daniel Urresti (We can Peru), Gonzalo Joy (Together for Peru), Rafael Lopez Aliaga (Popular Renewal) and Yuri Castro (Free Peru).
For the second block, the following pairs were formed: Gonzalo Alegría and Omar Chehade, Elizabeth León and George Forsyth, Yuri Castro and Daniel Urresti, and María Elena Soto Velásquez and Rafael López Aliaga.
For the third block, the positions were as follows: Elizabeth León, Daniel Urresti, George Forsyth, María Elena Soto Velásquez, Gonzalo Alegría, Yuri Castro, Omar Chehade and Rafael López Aliaga.
Finally, for the fourth block, the order is as follows: George Forsyth, Omar Chehade, Rafael López Aliaga, Yuri Castro, Elizabeth León, Gonzalo Alegría, María Elena Soto Velásquez and Daniel Urresti.
