In recent days there have been a significant number of thefts in different cities of the department as well as other situations of insecurity such as shooting on public roads.
Deputy Nicolás Viera reported that he contacted Colonia Police Chief Johnny Diego to convey the concern of many neighbors. “The wave of robberies that is taking place in the department is alarming. At this moment the city of Rosario is suffering more than one daily theft. The same is happening in Tarariras and several other cities”.
“If we see the situation in the area of the eastern beaches, it is really serious. There are no staff at a time when there is a lot of tourism and there have been serious events such as shots fired on public roads that were denounced by the neighbors. It is no man’s land,” said the legislator.
He also said he understood police work “because they do what they can” as well as “the commitment of the Police Headquarters, but this is far from being a panacea as Minister Heber shows us in the graphs. They said they had the magic key to solve insecurity situations and we are much worse off than before. That that the wallets returned to the neighborhood is the greatest irresponsibility, now they even steal the Minister ”.
For the person who experiences a robbery “it is a traumatic situation and they appear in the statistics with a number but we all know who they are, what faces they have, because they are our neighbors. You have to defend honest and hard-working people but it seems that this is not understood. They said they were going to increase the number of troops and last year there were only 2 more officers for Colonia,” said Viera.
“I hope it can be solved, the only way is to invest more in security” he concluded.
