The deputy for the Antofagasta region Sebastian Videla (IND-PL) will request this Monday, in the National Congress, the application of the State of Exception for the northern part of the country. This, after the murder of a 16-year-old boy in Antofagasta.
“The criminal acts that are experienced daily are unsustainable. The last one, a young man of only 16 years old, innocent, murdered in the middle of the street. His mother demands justice,” said the parliamentarian through his social networks.
The crime to which deputy Videla alluded occurred on Friday, around 9:00 p.m. The 16-year-old boy, of Bolivian nationality, was found with stab wounds at the intersection of Calama and Bellavista streets. The teenager was transferred to the Antofagasta Hospital, where he died.
“It is true that more resources have been approved for security, but I think that is not enough. Today I believe that the tool of the State of Exception is the only measure to provide peace and tranquility to the citizens of Calama, Antofagasta and the other communes,” said the legislator.
“Every day we see slams of doors, organized crime gangs and more crimes that have not been seen in recent times,” he added. “I have spoken with some parliamentarians in the region and of course most of us are united in decreeing a State of Constitutional Exception,” the legislator closed.
This Monday we will request to decree a State of Constitutional Exception in the northern macrozone.
The region of #Antofagasta and the rest of the communes cannot wait. A 16-year-old boy was murdered over the weekend and it’s time to take action now.#VidelaDeputy #Squid pic.twitter.com/1m7aHgZf9s
