The National Assembly approved in the third debate last Wednesday, October 5, with 53 votes in favor, 1 against and 3 abstentions, the project of Law 811 that creates the Ministry of Women and dictates other provisions.
The new ministry was created despite the economic crisis and will work with the budget of the Women’s Institute (INAMU), according to Nellys Herrera, current director of this entity.
During the discussion of the legislative initiative, the deputy for the free candidacy spoke out against it and stated that it would be formed into a ministry of ‘bottles’, ‘jugs’, ‘gallons’ and ‘half gallons’.
«Perhaps the intention is not a bad intention, because I am sure it is not, but when we see the ingredient of the moment in which we are living, a Social Security Fund about to explode… and this irresponsible Government comes up with the idea of creating a new ministry, that has no name,” he said.
He added that the government “is filling up with parasites that are destroying us.”
