Waldin Brownarrested in the municipality of Yásica, Puerto Plata province, after carrying out a robbery allegedly using a van marked with the district board of Santiago Oeste, he had been using the vehicle for four days after taking over the cleaning department of that institution on an interim basis.
The detainee today was covering the position of the director of said department, who is on vacation.
Eddy Báez, director of the board of Santiago Oestesaid to Free Journal that Castaño was appointed to the Cleaning Department for his work as a leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in his demarcation.
Waldin Castaño was also a vocal candidate on the ruling party’s ticket for the 2020 elections.
After the arrest, Eddy Báez reported that he canceled the employee of that institution.
Likewise, he accused him of breach of trust for using the truck for activities outside the service of his duties.
Waldin Castaño was arrested along with two other people after holding up, at gunpoint, a courier from the Banca Real consortium, who was robbed of an undetermined sum of money.
The other detainees are: Álvaro Rodríguez and Randy Genao, residents of Yásica.
At the time of the arrest, the defendants were traveling in the Jac van, license plate L436495, owned by the administration of the Santiago Oeste municipal district.
