Deputy Commissioner Jorge Bryant affirms that police units do not use ammunition or chemicals in UP protests

“The only thing that is done is to contain, pure containment, that is why our units put their physical integrity to maintain the situation,” he explained.

The students, who closed the Simón Bolívar road at noon this Thursday, in rejection of the high costs of fuel and the basic food basket, clashed with the Police riot units, who responded by launching tear gas and bullets rubber.

Deputy Commissioner Jorge Bryant, executive of the Metro Oeste Police Zone, assured on Radio Panama that the police units that attend these demonstrations do not use chemical agents or ammunition that cause lethal effects against the demonstrators.

“The only thing that is done is to contain, pure containment, that is why our units put their physical integrity to maintain the situation,” he explained.

Bryant reiterated to the public that they be aware of the official channels of communication so that drivers take alternate routes, since various demonstrations have taken place every day in various parts of the country.
