Deputies will question the director of Itaipu and president of ANDE

The Chamber of Deputies approved the draft Resolution, “Which cites and questions Manuel María Cáceres Cardozo, Paraguayan general director of Itaipú Binacional.” Immediately afterwards, they approved another interpellation request for Félix Sosa, president of the National Electricity Administration (ANDE).

Justo Zacarías Irún, national deputy for the ANR (chartist), pointed out that the reason for calling the Paraguayan director of Itaipu is due to the need to know in detail the tariff agreements that were signed with Brazil. How Sosa, also participates in the negotiations, was included in the request.

Miguel Cuevas, a national deputy for the ANR (official party), opposed the request for an interpellation so as not to pass “papers” in allusion to the interpellation held a day before with Vicente Bataglia, director of the IPS. On the other hand, he recommended only inviting him and asking him the questions. “If you are not convinced, if we can carry out an interpellation request against you,” he commented. This was supported by his teammates Hugo Ramírez and Éver Noguera.

Basilio “Bachi” Núñez, national deputy for Chartism, insisted on the request for interpellation due to the disadvantageous agreement that our country recently reached regarding the cost of the electricity rate. Finally, several requests for interpellations were approved.

QUESTIONS

Kattya González, national deputy for the PEN, points out that the questions are absurd and impertinent. “The designers of ‘Honor Colorado’ copied and pasted the Itaipu director’s questions for the ANDE president. There are five questions with misspellings that insult my intelligence and that of the public”. Given these comments, she was criticized by Chartist deputies such as Basilio Núñez, to which González accused them of being “donkeys” who were visibly upset by the interruption.
