The Chamber of Deputies will hold a special session this Saturday at noon to repudiate the attack suffered by Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and demand “a prompt investigation and conviction of those responsible”, in a plenary session in which the members of Together for Change ( JxC) and other opposition spaces have not yet defined whether they will attend.

The decision to convene a special session requested by the Frente de Todos (FdT) was made official, minutes after the cabinet meeting at Casa Rosada ended, in which the president of the Lower House, Cecilia Moreau, and the head of the House participated. of the block of deputies of the ocialismo, Germán Martínez.

The session

The special session will be held at noon, after the meeting of block presidents they will hold in the Parliamentary Labor Commission, where the opposition groups will finish defining whether or not to attend the session venue.

One of the doubts expressed by the opposition deputies has to do with the draft resolution that the FdT intends to vote in the session, presented by Moreau herselfin which a strong repudiation of the attack suffered yesterday by the Vice President is demanded.

The express initiative “his strongest condemnation and repudiation of the assassination attempt committed against the current Vice President and twice President of the Argentine Nation Cristina Fernández de Kirchner”.

“Likewise, we express the solidarity of those of us who make up the Chamber of Deputies with our Vice President of the Nation and her family, while we demand a prompt investigation and conviction of those responsible,” the text adds.

postures

In addition, it urges “all political, trade union, business leadership and society to condemn the attack perpetrated and the responsibility and commitment to eradicate political violence and hate speech in our country.”

After holding meetings of each of the blocks and the interblock in general, from JxC they indicated to the press that they will previously seek to face a negotiation with the FdT on the “tone” of the session and the text of the sentence that will be approved in the plenary session of the legislative body, reported sources from the opposition coalition.

The JXC authorities held a meeting this Friday afternoon via zoom where they agreed to continue with a round of negotiations with the ruling party prior to the Parliamentary Labor meeting scheduled for 11 o’clock, where they will state that they want to prevent the session from becoming a crossing of accusations, added the sources of the opposition coalition.

Likewise, both from the ruling party and from the main opposition caucus, they let it be known that the contacts are permanent and that they will continue tonight and the first hours of tomorrow.

A similar situation is sustained by the Federal interblock, the third space in the Chamber that brings together Peronists from Buenos Aires such as Graciela Camaño, Florencio Randazzo and Alejandro ‘Topo’ Rodríguez, socialists from Santa Fe and leaders of the Córdoba government.

From that sector they question that the call to session has included only the signatures of the ruling party and that the project that is planned to be voted on was not put to the consideration of all the blocks to fine-tune its wording.

The one that did confirm its presence is the United Provinces interblock, made up of four representatives of the provincial governments of Rio Negro and Misiones, habitual allies of the ruling party in parliamentary debates.

“The attack on the Vice President of the Nation, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, represents a serious act. That is why from the United Provinces Interbloc we decided to be present tomorrow in the Chamber of Deputies before the call for a special session. Parliament It is the place where we must show our repudiation,” said the head of that interblock, Luis Di Giacomo, from Rio Negro, through his social networks.

In addition, the leftist bench anticipated that it would give the present and the two libertarian blocs have not yet defined their positions.

The attempt

The attack on the Vice President was repudiated by all political sectors and by social and union groups that also called for a march to Plaza de Mayo that was held this afternoon to repudiate the event and express their solidarity with the former president.

On the official channel, after 11 p.m., President Alberto Fernández reported that he had decided to declare this Friday a national holiday so that “the Argentine people can express themselves in defense of life, democracy and in solidarity.”

“That the shock, horror and repudiation that this event generates in us becomes a permanent commitment to eradicate hatred and violence from life in democracy,” Fernández urged in the message he addressed from the presidential residence.

The legislators of the two main political benches met after 11:40 p.m. in the Arturo Illia room of the Senate, where they took a joint photograph as a sign of unity before the attack on the Vice President.

On the occasion, the head of the ruling bloc in the Senate, José Mayans, from Formosa, declared that they valued the opposition’s support and that they hoped for a “prompt clarification” of the incident.

“We have met to express our repudiation and express our support for the vice president for this unfortunate event against her and her family. We hope that this event will be resolved soon and we deeply regret what has happened,” he said.

This Friday morning and after participating in the cabinet meeting headed by President Alberto Fernández, the request for a special session for Saturday at 12 o’clock was made official to repudiate the attack on the vice president that occurred last night in front of her home.

At the end of that meeting, Germán Martínez said that it was a “very serious” event and argued that “we do not have a real dimension of the events because Cristina is alive”, warning that “we ask that the event be investigated to the last consequences” and he said that all sectors have to forcefully state what happened so that it never happens again”.

Likewise, he evaluated that the attack against Vice President Cristina Fernández was of “enormous institutional gravity” and said that there is no “real dimension of the facts about it because she is alive.”
