The increase in cases and deaths as a result of dengue, keep the health authorities of Santa Cruz on alert, who in recent days have intensified the tasks of destruction of mosquito breeding sites, fumigation and weed pruning, what’s more, in the next few days the municipality of Santa Cruz prepares a sentinel health center for the exclusive care of patients with dengue.
This isolation center will be set up in one of the health centers in the city of Santa Cruz, with 24-hour care, where they will set up 30 beds, as confirmed by the seMunicipal Secretary of Health, Adriana Amelunge. The municipal authority indicated that, in the Santa Cruz capital, there have been more than 480 cases of dengue and six deaths due to said disease; the last victim was a minor.
According to Amelunge, after the dengue health emergency which was issued last Thursday, the campaigns to destroy breeding sites of the Aedes aegypti mosquito and fumigation tasks have been reinforced; However, he insisted that the main filter to control dengue begins at home, and he ordered the population to destroy the containers that accumulate water in their patios.
This Tuesday morning, the brigades from the municipality of Santa Cruz traveled to the neighborhood Guapilo South, where the death of a minor was reported. There we proceeded to fumigate and destroy mosquito breeding sites, work that will be extended to the area of District 7 and 8 (Villa Primero de Mayo and Plan Tres Mil), and they expect it to be continuous for at least a month, throughout the capital of Santa Cruz.
“This weekend the great massive minga gave results and it has been possible to eliminate more than 1,700,000 containers containing positive and suspicious mosquito larvae for Aedes aegypti (dengue-transmitting mosquito). hWe have worked with the cleaning of the city, large avenues and this week will not be different, the work will be sustained, even Emacruz (Municipal Cleaning Company) is supporting and increasing the staff for the pruning of grass”, explained the secretary of Health.
The areas with the highest larval infestation or the presence of mosquito breeding sites are Districts 7, 8, 12 and Montero Hoyos, places where the brigades will come to fumigate outside and inside homes. “vWe are going to continue advancing until completing the first month of continuous work of health emergency for the elimination of dengue,” said Amelunge.
He added that, with the declaration of dengue health emergency it was possible to increase the number of personnel for the cleaning and fumigation mingas, in addition, these days it is expected to acquire more fumigation machines.
“With the emergency things are speeded up, the provision of medicines and we have seen the need to expand beds and a care center for patients with dengue. Today (Tuesday) youWe have meetings with the Ministry of Health to request that they help us to mitigate the health emergency, all the economic factors, to control and fight the epidemic in the municipality,” Amelungue said.
The municipal Secretary of Health pointed out that there are four variants that circulate in Santa Cruz, which is why the cases have been serious, and recommended to the population that in the presence of suspicious symptoms of dengue: high fever, vomiting, muscular and retrocular pain, they must go to a health center.
