Demonstrations are registered around Baquedano Square: protests over the lithium tender and the commemoration of the death of Matías Catrileo

During this Friday different demonstrations have been registered in the surroundings of Baquedano square and in the Mall. The attendees, who began their march in the Universidad de Chile subway and later moved to Plaza Italia, called for the halting of the lithium tender that the Government of Chile has been promoting. Another reason for the demonstrations on Friday is the commemoration of the death of Matías Catrileo at the hands of the Carabineros in 2008. A section of the Alameda between Santa Rosa and Paseo Ahumada was cut off due to police action.

In Baquedano Square, the actions of the Carabineros with water launchers and gas launchers were also registered to disperse the protest.

While, Santiago Metro reported the closure of the Baquedano station in its accesses by Line 1 and 5, with only the combination in operation.
