THE Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sônia Guajajara, defended, on Tuesday (22), that April is celebrating, but also of fights and concrete deliveries to the original communities in Brazil.
In an interview with the program The Voice of Brazilthe minister said the indigenous agenda needs to go beyond one day (April 19). She stressed that it is possible to realize that there is an increase in adherence to causes.
“One day is very little to talk about so many guidelines. The main flag of fighting of indigenous peoples has always been and remains the demarcation of the territories,” he explained.
THE Minister added that partnerships were signed with different ministries in favor of the themes, such as the realization of increased immunization against diseases in the territories. Even next Saturday (26), will be launched the month of vaccination in Bahia.
“Concrete actions”
Other partnerships involve expanding education in the states and also to foster indigenous agriculture. “There are several initiatives that we do so that we deliver concrete actions in the territories.”
In relation to the environment, the Minister contextualized that indigenous leaders will participate in agendas of the official event of COP 30in Belém, and also of parallel schedules in proposals against climate change.
“It is important to open the spaces for indigenous people to participate and also have this right to listen directly,” he said.
Sônia Guajajara stressed that the indigenous people are the main guardians of biodiversity and also the first most impacted with extreme phenomena.
“We have a way of life that protects, preserves, that takes care of the springs, which has clean water, which has food without poison. It is very important that people understand this for today and also for future generations.”
