The president will go to the Senate on Labor Day to formalize his initiative.

President Gustavo Petro confirmed that this Tuesday the questions will be officially revealed that make up their proposal of Popular consultationwhich will be filed next May 1 before the Senate of the Republic, coinciding with the commemoration of the International Labor Day.
“The Interior Minister will present in public the questions that will be presented to the popular consultation,” said the head of state, referring to the role of Armando Benedetti in the dissemination of the text that aims to submit social and labor reforms to Citizen Decision that have not advanced in Congress.
In first for Blu Radio the Director of the Informative Service, Ricardo Ospina revealed the complete content of the questionnaire that included the consultation. In total, they are 12 questions all with type responses Yes or no focused on labor issues, equity, social security and formalization of employment.
These are the questions known so far:
- Does the daytime work last 8 hours and is done between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm?
- Does the work with a 100% surcharge work on Sunday or festive rest?
- Do you agree that micro, small and medium -sized productive companies, preferably associative, receive preferential and incentive rates?
- Do you agree that people have permits for medical treatments and licenses for disabling menstrual periods?
- Does it agree that companies must hire at least two people with disabilities for every 100 workers?
- Do you agree that young apprentices of SENA and similar institutions have a employment contract?
- Do you agree that the distribution platform workers agree their type of contract and are guaranteed social security?
- Do you agree with a special labor regime that guarantees just rights and salary to field workers?
- Do you agree to eliminate outsourcing and labor intermediation through union contracts that violate labor rights?
- Do you agree to formalize or guarantee social security for domestic workers, community mothers, journalists, athletes, artists and drivers, among other informal workers?
- Do you agree with promoting job stability through indefinite term contracts as a general rule?
- Do you agree to create a special fund that recognizes a pension bonus to peasants and peasants?
The president had announced this initiative since March 11, when he pointed out his intention to summon the polls if the legislative did not advance in his proposals for health reform and the labor system.
Now, it will be the Senate of the Republic Who must decide whether or not to approve the call for this popular consultation, which could mark a turning point in the relationship between the Executive and the Congress.
