The Integral Development Plan of the province of Colón, “the strategic route towards a dignified life” was delivered this Thursday, January 5, to the President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, by the tripartite commission made up of the private company, leaders of the province and government commission.
The president Cortizo Cohen indicated that this is an effort of the tripartite table that, through respectful dialogue, have come to present this plan for the integral development of Colón.
Edgardo Voitier, leader of the Coalition of Unity for Columbus (CUCO) highlighted that “the difference of this document is that it is developed from the bottom up, where the people of Colon together with the government have defined the path for the development of this province ”.
He stressed that this document was prepared in a participatory manner, “the academic, business and social sectors together with the government have defined the path for the development of our province, this is governance.”
For his part, the President reiterated that “the best example is the one that Columbus brings today that at the time they said we may have differences, but we are going to sit at a table.”
Cortizo thanked the enormous effort of the members of this table and called for other provinces and regions to replicate this example. He added that this document has enormous value.
“I am very happy to be able to receive this document that collects from the bottom up what the province of Colón requires in this administration and those to come,” stressed the president during the delivery of the comprehensive plan for Colón.
While, Guillermo Salazar, coordinator of the Government Commission for the Attention of the province of Colón, indicated that this document represents the roadmap for the comprehensive reactivation of the province of Colón.
He pointed out that both the businessmen and the leaders of the province were able to present their expectations and from there it was possible to structure this long-term vision among all the actors.
He stressed that this plan seeks to reduce poverty and inequality since it constitutes a model for other provinces and thus be able to move in the right direction and that transcend the benefits of growth and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants.
