A member of the Zacarías criminal organization was killed during an operation carried out in the Chorochoro sector, Cajigal municipality (Yaguaraparo), Sucre state, according to military sources.
The deceased is identified as Luis Ángel Velásquez Crespo, who was with other members of the aforementioned criminal group when they were confronted by the military agents, according to a report from Detachment 533 of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB).
At the scene, officials collected a fragmentary grenade and a radio transmitter.
In another procedure, the military detained Jesús Gregorio Díaz in San Mateo (Anzoátegui) and seized a 12-gauge shotgun and a 22-caliber rifle, according to a report from the Rural Command Detachment 52-1 of the GNB.
Díaz was handed over to the Public Ministry to be prosecuted for illegal possession of a firearm.
Recently in that same Anzoatiguense town, the GNB raided a clandestine armory.
