Defense graduates 5,739 civilians and military personnel in diverse areas

The inauguration ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense.

President Luis Abinader yesterday headed the XVII Joint Ordinary Graduation of the Higher Institute for Defense “General Juan Pablo Duarte y Díez” (Insude), in which 5 thousand 739 new military and civil professionals received their undergraduate, postgraduate and graduate degrees , specialties, continuing education and military internship.

The president, together with the Minister of Defense Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, also awarded 1,686 degrees to graduates of the military academies during the period between 1976 and 1999, now recognized as graduates in Military, Naval and Air Sciences, diplomas received by the Minister of Defense Díaz Morfa and Vice Admiral Edmundo Félix Pimentel, representing the graduates of 23 years ago.

The degrees were recognized by resolution of the Insude, number 010-2021, of 09-30-2021 and ratified by the National Council of Higher Education, Science and Technology, which equaled the study programs of these promotions for the relevance in training internal in the military institutions and for meeting the minimum of the educational requirements of the higher level.

When delivering the central speech, Francisco Ovalle Pichardo, rector of the House of Higher Studies, said that “the Insude develops study programs faithful to its mission of training military and civilians who are guarantors of the security and defense of the nation, as a model of higher education institution (IES) concerned with excellence, innovation and research for the development of military and civilian capabilities ”.

The President of the Republic received a copy of the “White Book of Defense”, a government document prepared by the Armed Forces, in which the public policies of National Defense are presented and which seeks to generate trust and make internal processes transparent.
