Decree excludes Mint from privatization program

President Jair Bolsonaro issued, this Monday (6), a decree that welcomes the recommendation of the Council of the Investment Partnership Program to exclude the public company Casa da Moeda from the National Privatization Program (PND).Decree excludes Mint from privatization program

According to the Ministry of Economy, the provisional measure that ended the agency’s exclusivity in the manufacture of paper money, metallic coins, stamp printing and public debt bonds lost its effectiveness without being converted into law.

“For this reason, it was understood that there is a restriction in effecting an eventual partnership with the private sector for these activities, as long as this exclusivity is maintained”, reinforced the statement.

Also according to the portfolio, the exclusion from the PND and the revocation of qualification under the PPI are decisions that must be analyzed by the ministry’s technical staff and by the council, which is manifested through a resolution, to be validated by decree of the President of the Republic .

In October, the federal government had already announced which decided to remove the Mint from its privatization portfolio.
