The last four days in the life of the Physical Education teacher, David of the Saints Correa, 24, were marked by excessive violence, negligence and lies that have moved his relatives and society to ask for answers and demand that his death be clarified.
The strange circumstances that surround the last hours of the young man’s life began with an incident in Ágora Mall on April 27 in the afternoon that degenerated into his arrest and taking to the police detachment. National Police del Ensanche Naco, after he supposedly became violent and had to be handcuffed by the security of the place.
According to the version offered by a witness, who was also detained in that facility, when David was taken there he was calm, but he would have resisted being put in the cell, so allegedly the policemen on duty handcuffed him and they threw him in jail.
The witness reports that David leaned against a wall and shouted, which would have annoyed Santiago Mateo Victoriano, Michael Pérez Ramos and Jean Carlos Martínez Peña, the other men who were being held, and according to the version of the Public ministryan altercation occurred after the officers on duty sprayed pepper spray.
Allegedly, the situation caused them to unleash their fury against David, who was helpless because he was handcuffed, hitting him with kicks, fists and whatever was inside the cell. Finally climbing on top of him and putting her feet in his mouth, among other tortures.
“Devil little man, get us involved, because of you, we were sleeping peacefully, that’s why we’re going to kill you”The witness said that one of the three men told David at the moment of initiating the brutal beating that left him bleeding, lying on the floor and unconscious.
“They punched him like boxers, after he fell to the ground, they climbed on top of him and their feet even entered his mouth, one of the prisoners who is bald and another who is skinny, took my red Nike tennis shoes with the white soles that were in the window and they began to hit him in the face with them, ”said the witness to the authorities, according to the request for coercive measures to the seven involved in the case.
The man affirms that at one point during the night one of the detachment agents went to see what was happening in the cell and the assailants said that nothing was happening, they threatened him so that he would not speak, after which the policeman left without realizing the situation, and it was not until the morning of April 28 that they entered the cell and saw David bloodied on the floor.
Among the police officers involved in the case are Captain Domingo Alberto Rodríguez Rodríguez, Second Lieutenant Germán García de la Cruz, Corporal Alfonso Decena Hernández and Private San Manuel González García, whom the Public Ministry accuses of having knowledge and having actively participated in providing the conditions that generated the deadly attack.
He maintained that the inmates gave the version to the Police that David himself had caused the blows he presented and again told him to shut up, which he says he did for fear of being attacked as well.
He affirms that later the agents removed David’s handcuffs, bathed him and put him in a chair, while one of the prisoners who delivered the blows ordered him to clean up the blood. Shortly after the witness was released.
According to what has been established on the morning of April 28, the staff of the Naco detachment requested the assistance of the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Service, which transferred the detainee to the Francisco Moscoso Puello hospital.
That same day, David’s relatives contacted the Naco detachment, where they informed him that he was detained there and that they could go the next day to see him, according to his sister Sugeidy.
She maintains that when she went to the Naco detachment on April 29, she was informed that her brother had been transferred to the health center, but she was told that he was fine, that they would hand him over later, and they tried to get him to sign a document in which certified that David had been received by the family in good condition.
He maintained that together with other relatives he went to the hospital, verifying that his brother was badly beaten and required care in a trauma hospital, transferring him to the Doctor Darío Contreras hospital, where on May 1 he was declared dead.
