The National Customs managed to retain contraband merchandise worth 652 million bolivianos throughout the territory in 2021.

The amount is slightly higher than the 601 million bolivianos seized in 2019 and higher than the goal of 289.5 million that the entity set for 2021.

Reaching this goal means breaking a record with respect to seizures in the last 10 years and promoting the development of the country through support for national production and Bolivian industry, Customs indicated.

Through the confiscation of illegal vehicles, machines, devices and mechanical devices, an amount of more than 393 million Bolivians was reached.

In clothing, textile articles, knitwear and shoes, 60.6 million Bolivians were seized. In electronic equipment, an amount of 54.2 million bolivianos was reached. In beverages, alcoholic liquids and tobacco, 52.2 million Bolivians were valued and in foods such as seeds, fruits and others, more than 32 million Bolivians were seized.

More than 8,000 operations were carried out by the National Customs through the Customs Operational Control Unit (UCOE) and also in coordination with other institutions such as the Vice Ministry of Fight Against Smuggling, SENASAG, National Taxes, INIAF, the Armed Forces and the Bolivian Police.

The entity carries out inspections, seizures, searches and many other operations, which are also intended to support the production of national industry and add to the development of the country and its economic reactivation, Customs highlighted in an evaluation of 2021.
