The demonstrations in Cusco have become stronger since last January 4, the date on which a part of the population resumed an indefinite strike requesting the impeachment of Dina Boluarte as president of Peru, the closure of Congress and presidential elections for this year.

Since that date, thousands of protesters have arrived in Cusco, from the 13 provinces of the region, however their arrival has multiplied in recent days, registering clashes that have left one person dead and at least fifty injured.
It is in this understanding that last Friday, several trucks entered Cusco carrying protesters, when they were prevented from passing by other protesters ‘for peace’ who were in the district of San Sebastián.
Thus, both sides met on the track and physical and then verbal attacks began, requiring the intervention of the Police, who arrested several people.
This fact has generated strong reactions at the local level, in the videos racist insults are heard from Cusco against the community members, while the latter are also seen attacking those who do not join their demonstrations, Cusco is divided.
According to estimates from the Cusco Chamber of Commerce, for each day of strike, Cusco loses approximately five million soles, not only at the tourism companies level, but at a general level. To date, 80% of the tourist packages purchased for this world destination have been cancelled.
