Cusco: young man donates organs and doctors save the lives of three people with successful transplants

A 33-year-old young man from Cusco, who lost his life after suffering a traffic accident, donated his organs to be transplanted, by EsSalud doctors, to three people, including a minor, who suffered from serious illnesses that put their lives at risk .

Despite the difficult moment, the relatives of the young man who lived in the Cuzco They signed the authorization to transfer the liver and kidneys of their loved one, which allowed them to continue giving life to three patients who were on the waiting list.

Given this great gesture of solidarity from the family, the Organ Procurement and Transplantation team at the Adolfo Guevara Velasco Hospital of EsSalud activated the protocols that allowed the removal of the organs.

Rubén Chahua Torres, manager of EsSalud Cusco, reported that the liver was transferred to Limaon an air flight, to be transplanted into an 11-month-old girl who is hospitalized in the Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati.

While, the two kidneys stayed in the Cusco regionwhich were transplanted by specialists from the Adolfo Guevara hospital to two adult patients suffering from chronic kidney disease.

Exhortation

The manager of EsSalud noted that at the Adolfo Guevara hospital more than 400 patients with chronic kidney disease receive dialysis treatment, of which 26 are on the waiting list to receive a kidney transplant.

In that sense, he called on the population to join this altruistic act that saves lives.

“I urge the community to become aware and take into account that life can be given after death. That act of love must be reflected in our DNI, placing YES to organ donation. This is a sign that love can transcend beyond death”the official concluded.
