Cuba was elected this Wednesday to integrate four bodies of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations Organization (UN)reported official media on the island.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex) informed that as of this decision, Cuba will maintain its membership in the Commission on the legal and social status of women for the period between 2023 and 2027, as well as in the Executive Board of UNICEF (2023-2025), the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (2023-2026) and the Committee of Non-Governmental Organizations (2023-2026), all subsidiary bodies of ECOSOC, in accordance with a report of the Cuban News Agency (ACN).
According to note disclosed by the website of the Foreign Ministry, the election took place by acclamation, demonstrating the prestige of the Island worldwide, and more specifically, within the UN and its work in favor of the promotion and protection of all human rights for everyone, the media reports.
