MADRID, Spain.- The Cuban Ministry of the Interior (MININT) confirmed on Tuesday the death of the teenager Darío Leyva Acosta, whose death had been reported the day before by several users of social networks.
Leyva Acosta, 14 years old, was found lifeless on November 14, after days reported missing. The minor was a student at the Mártires de Maniabón secondary school, in the city of Puerto Padre, Las Tunas province.
The MININT, aforementioned through the local media Las Tunas Newspaper“works intensely to clarify the event.”
“Tuna authorities send condolences to the child’s family. (…) The political and governmental authorities, together with the people of Puerto Padre, join the pain of the family and friends of the adolescent Darío Leyva Acosta. (…) Everyone is shocked by such an abominable act, we accompany the relatives and convey our deepest condolences to them”, reads the official note.
According to some comments on social networks, the boy was allegedly murdered to steal his cell phone, but so far this information has not been confirmed.
In recent years, due to the greater access of the population to the Internet, numerous news reports have emerged about the disappearance of children and young people on the Island.
At the beginning of 2022 the child was found lifeless Yosvany Villar Avila14 years old, who had been reported missing since December 2020 in Havana.
Villar Ávila was found in La Loma de Chaple, Santos Suárez neighborhood, after “Ariel” confessed to the murder, a neighbor of Yosvany Villar Ávila, whom the mother suspected from the beginning.
A few days earlier, on the grounds of the “Martha Abreu” Central University of Las Villas, the body of Alessandro Rodríguez Aguiar, a 23-year-old youth, had been found.
