Cuba, Aduana, impuestos, medicamentos, importación

MADRID, Spain.- The regulations established by the Customs of Cuba for 2023 keep the policy of free importation of food, medicines and cleaning products, established in 2022, recently reported the web portal Tell me Cuba.

Customs regulations of Cuba for 2023

Tax-free medicines, cleaning and food products

The policy of free importation of food, medicines and cleaning products extends until June 30, 2023. As Customs previously indicated, “in order to enjoy this benefit, it is a requirement that said products be differentiated, in the accompanied luggage, of articles of another nature”.

Import of power plants until March

“Until March 31, non-commercial imports are allowed, above the value established by air, sea, postal and courier shipments, of power plants with a power of more than 900 watts,” said the Official Gazette in the Resolution 328/2022 of the Ministry of Finance and Prices.

The tariff rate, in the Customs of Cuba, will have a 70% discount. A power plant, up to 900 watts, implies 200 points of the 1,200 available in the annual import.

While an emergency electrical support team with power greater than 900 up to 1500 watts has a value of 500 points. On the last scale are plants between 1,500 and 15,000 watts that generate a score of 1,000.

Home appliances, computing and communications

Customs admits up to three items related to telecommunications and network devices including accessories or peripherals of computer equipment (mouse, keyboard or others).

For flash memories, parts and pieces of computers, mobile and fixed telephony, printers, photocopiers, and other computer and communications equipment, the value-weight alternative is used, and whenever it is verified that there is diversity in the products.

Of cell phones or smart phones, up to five (400 points) are allowed.

foods of animal origin

According to the regulations related to foods of animal origin, the following may be entered into the country: Preserved meat (canned) of bovines, porcine and poultry, duly identified and of recognized commercial brands. These must be from countries eligible for Cuba; such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.

Likewise, the entry of canned seafood from any geographical area and fluid UHT, condensed, evaporated milk and dairy desserts from any geographical area is allowed. The same, in the case of powdered milk.

The possibility of importing foods such as pasteurized mature cheeses and cheeses made from ultra-pasteurized milk is maintained.

parts and accessories

Parts and accessories are admitted, with no quantity limit, provided they are diverse (this implies that they are not of a commercial nature) and whose total weight does not exceed 5 kg.

In addition, the fundamental parts and pieces of machines, apparatus and equipment, imported as a whole, are considered as complete machines, apparatus and equipment.

When they are presented in fractions, it is taken into account that the sum of the parts represents the total value of the equipment to be imported: a tower and a monitor are considered as a complete microcomputer, a bicycle without tires is admitted as a complete item.

In shipments up to 200 dollars can be imported, which is equivalent to 20 kg.
