Cuban activist Saily González arrives in the United States

Madrid Spain.- The Cuban activist Saily González Velázquez arrived this Sunday in Miami, United States. After the opposition herself announced her departure from Cuba through social networks, the news has been confirmed by various sources close to González.

“By the time you see this message I will have arrived in the United States. This trip is a decision that I have taken as a result of the episode of repression of the last Thursday and the pressures I received that day. I took it very hastily and I have told very few people about it, ”the entrepreneur wrote in her profile on Facebook.

The former member of the Archipelago group, who had been harassed by State Security in recent months, also pointed out that this outing is “just one more trip,” and stressed that “she will continue to fight for a country where we can all participate, a country without repression or political prisoners”.

“My heart goes out to every political prisoner whose rights are violated and to their families, with every activist who, like me, puts their body, their peace and that of their family at risk,” added the opponent.

This Friday, Saily González denounced that the Cuban authorities had opened an accusation process for the alleged crime of “instigation to commit a crime.” The day before she had been subjected to interrogations after being detained by agents of the Ministry of the Interior in Villa Clara.

Saily González had been arrested on May 31 in Santa Clara while walking for the freedom of political prisoners on the Island.

The young woman was intercepted by a State Security agent in the middle of a public road. The arrest was captured live by Saily herself, who was broadcasting via Facebook Live.

During the last weeks, the Cuban authorities had closed the fence on the activist and entrepreneur, especially since she made public her invitation to the IX Summit of the Americas, an event that she was unable to attend due to the refusal of State Security. .
