Cuba will bring together companies from at least half a dozen countries in Europe and America at its international trade fair transportation and logistics (FITL), which will be held from September 27 to 29.

The Cuban Deputy Minister of Transport, Naima Alfonso Acosta, stated this Tuesday at a press conference that the objective of the meeting is to “invigorate the sustainable development” of land, sea and air transport in the country.

Specifically, the directive indicated that the business meeting aims to promote “sustainable mobility” and the modernization of the sector, foreign investment and international cooperation, as well as attract financing and facilitate the supply of spare parts.

Among the confirmed participants, in addition to Cuban entities, are companies from Spain, the Netherlands, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico and Italy. Other partners are still in talks with the organizers of the meeting.

The FITL, added Alfonso, aspires to help boost the freight forwarding company sector, which is currently experiencing difficulties at the international level due to the consequences of the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Cuba is going through a serious economic crisis due to the pandemic, the tightening of US sanctions and failures in national management. This situation has one of the most affected sectors in transport.
