The Cuban scientific entity indicated in its Twitter account that it shows a significant reduction in the incidence of covid-19 in the age group 2 to 18 years, from the vaccination campaign carried out on the Island with the Sovereign 02 immunogens. and Soberana Plus.
Last October Cuba sent Nicaragua the first load of 1.2 million doses of another of its anti-covid vaccines, Abdala, developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB).
The Health Regulation Authority of the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health endorsed the emergency use of the Cuban vaccines Abdala and Soberana 02.

In this way, the Central American nation has joined other countries such as Iran, Venezuela and Vietnam, which already administer vaccines created by Cuban scientific institutions to their population to face the coronavirus.
Abdala, the first vaccine against covid-19 developed in Latin America, is a subunit formula based on the receptor-binding site (RBD) of the virus protein S – the type of platform in which Cuban scientists have the most experience – and has an intramuscular administration schedule of three injections in 28 days.
Clinical trials of this vaccine created by the CIGB showed an efficacy of 92.2% in clinical trials.
Sovereign 02 is a subunit conjugate vaccine that combines virus antigen and tetanus toxoid to stimulate the immune system response. Its effectiveness was 91.2% when combining two own doses and a booster dose of Soberana Plus.
Soberana Plus is indicated as a reinforcement to administer it in the convalescent population of covid-19 older than 19 years of age, with two months or more of their hospital or home discharge, as well as for a combined scheme with Soberana 02.
