Cuba adds 13 consecutive weeks without deaths from dengue, says the MINSAP

MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) reported about a slight decrease in dengue infections in Cuba compared to last October.

During the weekly meeting on the behavior of COVID-19 on the Island, the vice minister of that state body, Tania Margarita Cruz Hernández, announced that, at the end of week 46 of this year, transmission decreased by 10%. compared to October.

According to the data offered by the official, in the last 14 days only 33 positive cases of the disease were diagnosed, equivalent to a rate of 0.3 per 100,000 inhabitants.

Likewise, it transpired that in the last 13 consecutive weeks no deaths have been reported from this cause, so the accumulated fatality has decreased to 0.77%.

When addressing the epidemiological situation of dengue, Cruz Hernández also commented that the incidence rate of suspected cases decreased by 16.2% compared to the previous week.

The deputy minister assured that, despite the problems in the availability of fuel and means for sanitizing the cities, the slight decrease in dengue infections was “good news.”

The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister of the Cuban regime, Manuel Marrero Cruz, who also insisted that there was a marked decrease in the main indicators.

“We cannot trust either of the two confrontations. We must continue to strictly comply with all the measures to maintain this trend towards total control of COVID-19 and the progressive reduction of dengue,” said the senior leader.

According to data released by the Cuban authorities, the peak of the dengue epidemic it was registered in August, when MINSAP confirmed 11,634 reactive cases to the disease in one week.
