Covid-19 positivity remains above 20%

In its report today, Monday, May 9, the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) revealed that 1,359 new positive cases were detected in the last hours, for a positivity of 22.4%.

In addition, the report detailed that in the last 24 hours there was a death due to the virus, so that the sum of deaths in Panama due to COVID-19 reaches a total of 8,194 today for a lethality of 1.0%.

The corregimientos and districts with the highest number of positive cases in the last hours are: Chitré, Rufina Alfaro, Juan Díaz, Penonomé and San Francisco.

In Panama, 789,830 accumulated cases of Covid-19 and 767,904 people recovered have been recorded to date. 6,080 new tests were applied, while the active cases total 13,732 throughout the country, of which 13,577 are in home isolation and 155 hospitalized. Those in isolation are divided into 13,548 at home and 29 in hotels. Those hospitalized are 136 in the ward and 19 in the ICU.
