Covid-19 daily report: 5,844 new infections, 80 deaths and active cases reach 34,642

The Ministry of Health (Minsal) published this Monday morning the daily report on the situation of the pandemic in the country. The portfolio reported that there were 5,844 new Covid-19 infections and 80 deaths from causes associated with the disease in the last 24 hours. Likewise, active cases reached 34,642.

Of the total new cases of Covid-19, 3,097 correspond to symptomatic people and 990 do not present symptoms. In addition, 1,757 Positive PCR tests were registered that were not reported.

The variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is -3% and -16% for the comparison of seven and 14 days, respectively. Meanwhile, nine regions have decreased their cases in the last seven days and twelve have done so in the last two weeks.

Regarding deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 51 deaths from causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deaths amounts to 59,383 in the country.

Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, the results of 39,604 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported yesterday, reaching a total of 41,735,919 analyzed nationwide to date. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 13.44% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 10.63%.

To date, 179 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 100 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 290 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.
