Covid-19: Brazil records 12,700 cases and 39 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health released today (23) new figures on the covid-19 pandemic in the country. According to a daily survey carried out by the ministry, Brazil has, in the accumulated, 30.8 million confirmed cases of the disease and 665,600 registered deaths. In the last 24 hours, the ministry recorded over 12,700 cases and 39 deaths from the disease.

The state of São Paulo has the highest number of accumulated cases since the beginning of the pandemic (5.4 million) and the most deaths from the disease (168,900). Next are Minas Gerais (3.3 million cases and 61,400 deaths); Paraná (2.5 million cases and 43.2 thousand deaths) and Rio Grande do Sul (2.3 million cases and 39.4 thousand deaths).

Vaccination

According to the Ministry of Health’s vaccinometer, 431.4 million doses of vaccines against covid-19 have already been applied. The first dose was administered to 176.7 million people, and the second to 158.4 million people. 84.3 million people received the booster dose and the second booster dose, 3.4 million.
