Court recesses coercion against those involved in FM case

The Court of Permanent Attention of Santo Domingo Oeste, adjourned yesterday for next Friday at 9:00 in the morning, the hearing requesting a measure of coercion for the seven implicated in the so-called FM case, indicated as members of a network that allegedly engaged in money laundering as a result of drug trafficking.
The Public Ministry concluded the reading of the request for a coercive measure where they presented before Judge Cecilia Toribio alleged evidence of the illegal actions that, they say, the defendants committed.

The prosecution body assured that the alleged illegal actions are more than enough for the magistrate to impose preventive detention on the defendants as a coercive measure and declare the case complex.

Similarly, three of the defense of the seven defendants presented their defensive arguments, and for next Friday they will continue with the presentation of the remaining 4.

The defendants are Juan Pérez Tejada, his father, Juan Pérez de la Rosa, former director of Immigration in Santiago; his wife, Anabel Sánchez; Dyna Noguera, former deputy Gladis Azcona and her children Ramluis Mejía and Rolando Reyes.

According to the interim head of the Anti-Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, Ramona Nova, the defendant Juan Gabriel requested the measure requested by the Public Ministry and requested that he be sent to the Rafey prison in Santiago.

The accusing body has said that Judge Cecilia Toribio must order preventive detention so that, among other things, the defendants do not escape and prevent them from “attacking or executing acts of retaliation against the denouncing accuser.”

The FM case is linked to an alleged international network dedicated to laundering assets from drug trafficking which, according to the file, in August 2020 was seized some 4.3 million dollars brought to the Dominican Republic in loudspeakers.
