Court dictates two months of preventive detention to ‘Cholo Chorrillo’, while his extradition process is resolved

The Criminal Court of the First Judicial Circuit of San José imposed two months of preventive detention on Jorge Rubén Camargo Clarke, 42 years old and known by the alias Cholo Chorrillo.

This was reported this Sunday, February 13, 2022, by Noticias Columbia, from Costa Rica, where Cholo Chorrillo was captured last Friday.

These two months is the term established by the Extradition Treaty between Costa Rica and the United States, reported the Judicial Power before a query made by the aforementioned media.

According to Columbia News, Camargo Clarke did not accept the voluntary extradition process and, therefore, the process began at the judicial level that will determine whether or not he is sent to the United States.

After the issuance of the measure, Camargo Clarke was placed under the order of the Criminal Court of the Second Judicial Circuit of San José, in Goicoechea.

Cholo Chorrillo, the alleged leader of Baghdad and one of the most dangerous criminal groups in the country, was with his wife at the time of his arrest.

In Panama it is required for the alleged commission of the crimes of drug trafficking and money laundering, among others. For his whereabouts, the National Police offered a reward of $50,000.

His capture took place in front of the sports plaza of San Isidro de Grecia, Alajuela. It was a joint operation of the Intelligence and Security Directorate, the Judicial Investigation Agency and the Special Intervention Unit, which belongs to the Presidency.
